Phone Call to Angel

Veronica realized that it had been almost a week since she talked to Angel and he had no idea that they managed to get rid of the ghosts.

She locked herself in her bedroom and called him.

"Angel."

"Hey," Veronica said. Angel might note that her tone was a lot more pleasant and relaxed than her last phone call.

"Hey, Veronica," Angel said, his voice sounding pleased. "How's it going?"

"Significantly better than the last time we talked."

Angel checked to make sure Logan wasn't around. "No more Logan's dad?"

"Not since last Thursday night," Veronica confirmed. "Long story short, we woke up a demon that fed on emotions when we told ghost stories by the campfire. The demon sent out a bunch of ghosts to cause negative emotions so he could get strong enough to rise. We had to overcome our negative emotion to get rid of the ghost."

"And you managed to defeat your emotions about Logan's dad?" Angel asked. "Hey. Way to go."

"I had help," Veronica admitted. "But I did overcome my fear and made him go away."

"I knew you could do it."

"Thanks," Veronica said. "How's things with you?"

"Where to begin?" Angel said. "No. Wait. I know. Cal and a cheerleader costume. Double-U Tee Eff?"

"Cal? As in Callisto? In a cheerleading outfit? Did you hit your head?"

"Cal, as in Callisto, as in singing Mickey while wearing this teeny-tiny, left nothing to the imagination... um. Yeah. I have footage."

There was a definite pause as Veronica processed that. "Yeah, I got nothing," she said. "Who sent the footage?"

"Pretty sure it was John."

"And I haven't heard anything about Aeryn killing him."

"Possibly I wasn't supposed to tell anybody that?"

"I certainly won't repeat it. I kind of value my life."

"I'll ask him about it. So who's Alec?"

"Alec. Um... new guy, has a look-alike named Dean. They're pretty cute. He's a cheerleader. Pretty sure he's screwing his way through the entire female student body."

"Like Cal?"

Not that he was jealous.

"Haven't heard that one," Veronica said.

"He sent me a picture of Callisto kissing D'Anna."

"Haven't heard that one either," Veronica said. "Of course, I don't get out much these days. Between teaching, working at Caritas and Archie, I'm not exactly a social butterfly."

"Working at Archie, huh?" Angel said, teasing.
