Hyperion, Wed afternoon, phone call

Asking for help was something that, well, Angel never liked to do. But on the other hand he was a guy who knew when to turn to a blonde with powers when necessary.

He picked up the phone in his office and made a call back to Fandom.

Isabel blinked at the caller ID. "Hello?"

"Hey," Angel said. "It's Angel."

"That's what the phone says. But the Angel I know doesn't make phone calls," she chuckled.

"I make... okay it's been a while, I get that," Angel said. "Sorry. My bad."

"Yes, but since I know I'm not the only one lacking in phone calls I won't hold it against you," she said, smiling at the phone. "How are you? And what's wrong? Since I know you didn't just call to say hi or gossip about my love life."

Angel? Easily distracted.

"You have a love life? That's great! Anybody I know?"

"I do, and no you don't. He came in for the summer. He's really, really sweet. You'd like him." And Greg would probably really like Angel. As long as he gave him a blood sample.

"I don't have to beat him up?" Angel asked. "He knows that if he makes you frown he's going to have one cranky vampire on his case?"

"No, not at all. Greg's wonderful," Isabel said happily. "And even if he did do something, well, you'd have to wait your turn."

"Good," Angel said. "I'm glad. He treats you like a princess, right?"

"Absolutely. But how have you been? All I've heard are second hand reports. How's LA treating you? And Logan?"

"Haven't touched him!" Angel said at once. Not that he had guilt issues.

"I figured. I'm sure someone around here would have said something if you had. You know how gossip is at this place."

"Some have been - I mean Bel and Parker - anyway, there's a case."

Isabel wasn't going to touch the topic of Bel with Angel if she could avoid it. "A case?"

"Yeah," Angel said. "One I could use your help with."

"Have aliens invaded LA?" she asked, only half joking.

"Well there was this one thing but it turned out it was a movie," Angel said, sounding sheepish. "No. Demon. Dream demon. Only not so much with being sweet."

"You didn't?" Isabel asked, struck by the sudden image of Angel interrupting a movie shoot. "That doesn't sound like fun. What can I do to help?"

"Still got that dreamwalking trick of yours up your sleeve?"

"I do. But you realize it helps if I'm a little closer to whoever I'm supposed to visit?"

"We've got plenty of spare rooms," Angel replied. "This demon's bad news. Faster I can do my sword thing, better everyone's going to be."

"I've got some time on my hands, and an offer of travel by shimmering if I need it. How about I call Bel and have him take me out there first thing tomorrow? I'd go now, but I've got some people I need to talk to before I leave. They'll get twitchy if I just up and vanish without a goodbye."

"Tomorrow would be perfect," Angel said. "Give me time to nag Logan into getting your room ready."

"Tell him I want a chocolate mint on my pillow with the turndown service," she laughed. "And after we kill the demon, you are going to buy me a nice dinner right? To make up for not calling for almost three months?"

"Nice dinner, long conversation, promise," Angel said. "I'll even throw in a few words myself."

"I'm looking forward to it. It'll be good to see you again," she said. "I'll see you in the morning. But for now, let me go make some calls and start packing."
