Babylon 5 / Epsilon 3, in the middle of her very slow day in CnC

Ivanova's link beeped, informing her of an uplink. She frowned at it, wondering why the call didn't go right through. Three garbled words told her all she needed to know.

"I'm going down to the planet," she said abruptly, turning on her heel and stalking out of the Dome, leaving Corwin blinking and confused in her wake.

"O-okay . . ."

"Zathras is hearing that Ivanova is having very special day today -"

"And Zathras would please be shutting up about that."

Zathras grumbled. Ivanova ignored him and closed her eyes, looking for her favourite neo-hippie witchdoctor punk.

Blair was finishing up his sign for the protest on his bedroom floor and he went to hold it up in front of him. Well, whaddya know, there were legs in front of him. "Huh."

Ivanova smiled down at him. "A hologram of a beautiful woman from the future appears in your bedroom and all you have is 'huh'?"

Blair took a very long moment to stand up but finally he was face to face with Ivanova. Or at least as face to face as he ever got with her.

"Stella, it's so good to see you. You look amazing. Does that work better?"

"Wonderful," Ivanova smiled. "Now all you have to do is tell me where you got the cast, the bandages, and the battle wounds and where I can find them and I'll be all better!"

"It scares me that you can say all that with a smile on your face." Blair figured that if Ivanova already saw, there was no point in pretending and he took a seat on his bed. "You are unique."

"I smile because I left my scary face with my ship. The one with the big guns." Her face fell a little. "Blair, what happened? I leave for a month, and you end up looking like you just stumbled out of a mu-tai ring."

"I'm thinking that I can't distract you by asking what a mu-tai ring is, huh?" Blair sighed and pointed at his cast. "River went a little crazy and broke this a couple of weeks ago. The rest is from last night when demon bikers with axes attacked me and Dr. Wilson while we were on the mainland."

"Alien prizefight, and no." Ivanova shook her head. "Now I don't know whether to say that I miss Fandom, or prefer it up here. Demon bikers with axes?"

"Big bikers and some had wings and the axes were huge." Blair spread his arms out as wide as they could go. "Seriously, man. They used them to make us drive off a bridge into the river."

"Is . . . Dr. Wilson, right? Is he okay? God, Blair, you don't do things by halves, do you?"

"He's okay." Blair nodded. "Aziraphale and Bel came and got us out."

"Stella...they killed all the demons in order to get us out. It was horrible."

Ivanova was quiet. She wanted to give him a hug, but it was a bit difficult to do from a couple centuries distant. She moved over to the bed and "sat", if he ignored the way the blankets seemed to overlap her in places. "I can imagine. Something like that isn't fun."

"If I confess to all the times I was scared will you promise not to tell everyone that I'm a chicken?"

Ivanova smiled a little. "Would I do that?" She lifted a hand, scout's honour. "I won't say a word."

"Thanks." Blair reached out and put a hand on the blanket. If he didn't look too closely it was like holding her hand.

"When the car first got hit. When the front window got hit by an ax. When my window got shattered. When I could hear Dr. Wilson's voice got scared. When the tires left the pavement and when they hit the water. When I couldn't get the seatbelt undone because of my cast and the water went over my head. When I realized that I swimming wasn't easy with a cast. When I saw Bel and Phale fighting. When I saw how badly Dr. Wilson was bleeding. When I saw that it was over."

"Oh, Blair," Ivanova said softly. He needed a hug. And she was far, far away. She'd have to save it for Homecoming or so she thinks. But she never wanted Blair to have to deal with something like that.

"Tell me something happy?"

"I don't know how happy this is, or if it's just another type of sad, but . . ." she offered him an embarrassed little smile. "It would be mine and Tonks' nine month anniversary today."

"Awww Stella." Blair smiled sadly at her. "Happy Anniversary."

Ivanova laughed softly. "Yeah, happy anniversary. I haven't seen her in almost six months. I still can't get her out of my head."

"You love her, you should be thinking about her. I'm sorry it hurts though." Blair said. "What are your plans?"

"Get roaring drunk after work and pass out on someone else's bed so I don't have to dream about her," Ivanova replied dryly.

"Roaring drunk?" Blair arched an eyebrow.

"Yes. It's significantly louder than just drunk and usually involves more bar fights."

"I'm not so happy about the bar fights but I like the non-I'm-so-emo-in-my-room part."
