Hearst College - Thursday Afternoon
Dec. 8th, 2006 01:01 amVeronica was pleased to find a message from Marty when she woke up. She was still concerned and confused over what had happened, but now that she knew Marty was okay, she could wait until after her classes to call him.
As soon as she got back to her room in the afternoon, she dialed his number.
Marty was still in bed when the phone rang and in a foul mood to boot. Not even bothering to look at the number, he answered the phone with a grumpy "What?"
"Are you okay? What happened?" Veronica asked.
Marty let out a long sigh and began his story about witnessing Bel kill someone over on the mainland and the subsequent fight and depowering that occurred the night before. "After that I just came back to my room and had a big old fight with Angela about the whole thing."
Veronica winced. "Well, I'm glad that I gave you the potion and it certainly sounds like it needed to be used. But I'm sorry you got hurt and I'm sorry you and Angela ended up fighting over it."
"Yeah well, we'll work it out somehow," Marty grumbled. "As for Bel... Well he may be human now but he's going to have to deal with what happened to that woman."
"Yeah, he will," Veronica sighed. "Phoebe's probably pissed at me."
"She was pretty stunned last night," Marty replied. "I told her what Bel did but I'm not sure if she believed me."
"Well, whatever happens, I think you did the right thing," Veronica said.
"Thanks," Marty said bitterly. "Think you could tell Angela that?"
"If you think it would help," Veronica offered.
Marty sighed. "You probably shouldn't. She was mad that I gave you a heads up on what was happening and not her. If she finds out I was talking to you about the argument she probably wouldn't be happy."
"Okay, I won't call her," Veronica agreed. "Just do me a favor?"
"What's that?" Marty asked.
"Don't EVER leave me a voicemail message like that again."
Marty winced slightly at the volume of her voice. "So what kind of message should I leave you then?"
"I don't know. But I was really worried all day yesterday," Veronica told him.
"I'll try not to do it again," Marty promised. "But now I'm going to crawl back under my covers. Talk to you later, Mars."
"Keep me posted," Veronica said before hanging up.
