Parker is valiantly avoiding her homework. Mostly because she regards her fellow group members as idiots.

As it happens, she has new material to use on a few people. So phone calls are in order.

"Angel Investigations. We help the helpless. How may I help you, sir or madam?" Logan recited.

Parker grinned, and made her voice very British, wondering if Logan would guess who it was. "Yes, I have a case for your company. I need a 'deadbeat dad' tracked down, and the last I was aware, he was in Los Angeles."

"Lost someone, Parker? Thought you installed tracking tags in all your conquests."

Parker pouted a moment, then grinned. "Ooo. Idea for the future. And actually, it's not on my behalf." She unwrapped a cigarette, and fiddled with her lighter. "It's for Veronica."

"Oh, god. Who'd she hook up with now?"

"You mean, aside from you?" Parker asked, rolling her eyes as she lit her cigarette. "No wonder you were so full of angst before Christmas."

She wasn't about to admit to the Dick Casablancas connection directly, but... "Bel, by the way, is a big ol' gossip, and told me that she was about five months along. You couldn't be *quiet* when you got busy?"

"Yeah, I'm sure he just happened to overhear." Logan rolled his eyes, not that Parker could see him. "Whatever. Angel knows. Bel's got nothing on me. And Veronica's not pregnant."

Chuckling, Parker said, "But he was worried! It was sweet! He thought she wasn't ... gaining weight... fast enough...."

The giggles overtook her momentarily, and when she got her breath back, she said, "Yeaaah, anyway, she kicked his ass for it. Feel free to do that. Also since I understand he hasn't called since that whole mess happened in December?"

"Yeah," Logan said. Angel hadn't mentioned anything, but Logan was pretty good at picking up on things people didn't say. And while Logan would be perfectly happy if Angel never talked to Bel again, talking to Bel would probably get Angel to lighten up on the brooding about December. "Tell him to get off his ass and call already." He considered. "Actually, no. Tell him I think he's a pussy for avoiding Angel and if he ever tries to call here again, I'll kick his ass. That should do it."

"I am so directly quoting you on that." Parker took a drag off her cigarette and grinned wickedly. Anything that cut down on brooding ws for the good of all, as far as she considered it. "Which brings us to something else." Another drag of anticipation. "How much are you paying attention to state news these days, Echolls?"

"Sure. Wildfires, actors' strike, economy sucks," Logan said.

"Gay marriage approved?" Beat. Beat. "So. What are your intentions toward Angel, exactly?"

Okay, he should've seen that coming. And yet. "Well," Logan said after a moment. "I figured I'd wait until he's popped out a couple of kids and then trade him in for a younger model."

Yes, that laugh was loud enough to be heard down the hall of Parker's dorm, and possibly out in the Quad.

"Ohhh, I'm so telling him you said that." Parker chuckled again and then said, "I mean, it's not like you don't have the documentation for it. You both have the fake birth certificates. Or are you afraid Angel would tear up and lose his soul at the altar?"

"Yeah, that'll happen," Logan muttered. "Sorry to bust up your wedding plans, Parker, but I'm not the marrying type."

"AwwwWWWWwwwwwwwWWWW!" Parker pulled out the whine to truly annoying proportions, and sniffed. "But, but, I already have your tuxes picked out! I could get Isabel to design the theme! Something about private eyes and private lives!"

There might have been giggling in there somewhere. Maybe.

"Tell you what!" Logan said cheerily. "You can plan my wedding if I can plan yours."

That might have elicited some hacking on her cigarette from Parker, and then another snicker. "I should take you up on that, and then never, ever, ever get married. Or find some chauffeur to put through whatever you come up with and divorce him the day after." She paused. "Hmmm."

"Oh, don't worry about that," Logan said. "I'm sure I can find you a suitable husband."

"Oh hell no," Parker blurted. "You just keep your ideas of my suitable spouse to yourself, Logan. No way, Jose'." She added dryly, "Despite certain of our classmates pairing off like Bible stories, I've got no interest in the long-term." Mischevious again, she added, "I just had to ask, with all legal impediments removed, what your next step was."

"Why does there have to be a 'next step'?" Logan asked. "I like things how they are."

"So you and Angel will be living in sin, if you end up raising our child?" Parker gave a sad sigh. "Okay, but you get to explain it to Ben, if he ever happens."

"No problem," Logan said. "That'll be sometime after I explain gambling but before I teach him about drugs and pornography."

"I am so holding you to that." Parker took another drag on her cigarette, then said, "Okay, must get off the phone and learn more Chinese. I'll teach our child how to survive as long as there's take-out, you teach him how *not* to be arrested, works?"
