Hearst College - Veronica's Room - Friday Afternoon

Veronica got back to her room after the newspaper meeting, pleased that one of the photos she had taken was going to be used on the front page of next week's edition.

She dropped her notes and camera on her desk, slung her messenger bag across the back of her chair and sprawled out on her stomach on her bed, phone in hand.

The conversation she'd had with Marty the other night had helped a lot and she was in a good mood as she pulled up Cameron's number on her speed dial and hit send.

The phone ran exactly once and then Cameron picked up. Clearly having been waiting beside it. "Yo!"

"Hey," Veronica said. "How's it going?"

"You're calling me," he said, the smile obvious in his voice.

"I told you I would," she replied. "How's Joan?"

"She's doing really well. She's all nice and shiny in our new garage right now. And she rides like a dream," he told her happily.

"Good. And you didn't kill yourself, which is definitely a plus."

"I'll have you know that I caused no accidents at all," he paused for a moment. "Except maybe for the random squashed bug."

"Well, that's acceptable loss," Veronica said. "Have you taken anyone for a ride yet?"

"Just Anders, I think I turned him in a speedjunkie," he exagerated.

There was a pause. "He didn't try to kiss you, did he?"

"No!" Cameron protested. "I did that once already. It was more than enough." He really shouldn't have said that.

"You kissed Anders? When?"

"Before New Years and it wasn't like that! It was just to prove that you could kiss someone at midnight and it still being platonic! Can you please forget I said that?" he begged and pouted at the telephone.

"No, sorry," Veronica said, not sounding very apologetic. "Especially since that was before the whole Anders, Cally and Bridge body swap when Anders swore up and down that he wasn't into boykissy."

"We both flailed and declared the national state of emergency and there was no boykissy! Our lips barely touched!" It was possibly Veronica would be able to hear him flail.

Veronica totally wasn't giggling. "You know, there is such a thing as protesting too much."

"I've got a reputation to protect," Cameron whined.

"With who?"

"Girls for one," he said.

"Well, yes, I suppose there are girls out there that aren't into boykissy," Veronica conceded.

"I prefer kissing girls," Cameron said pointedly.

"Kissing girls can be nice," she agreed.

There was a moment of silence as Cameron didn't know what to make of the comment before he finally replied. "Yeah, I saw."

It was probably clear from Veronica's tone that she was smirking. "So, anything new and exciting in your world?"

"You tell me," he really hoped she knew what he meant straight away.
