Hearst - Veronica's Dorm Room

Veronica had spent a very productive afternoon, if you can call buying a dress and shoes for Homecoming productive.

Now she was in her room and she realized she needed to arrange transportation for next weekend.

Bel smirked as he saw the caller ID light up on his phone. "Booty Call Express," he answered.

"It wasn't a booty call!" Veronica insisted.

"What is it they say about protesting too much?" Bel said. "Okay, pre-booty call. I'll give you that much."

Veronica sighed. "Maybe," she conceded. "Very pre. But we're going to Homecoming together."

"Well, I know how I celebrated Homecoming last year, so maybe you'll luck out," Bel said.

"I'm pretty sure we're not anywhere near that stage of our relationship," Veronica assured him.

"What's the hold up? Distance? That's no excuse because you have your cosmic taxi service here."

"No, it's not distance," Veronica replied. She sighed again. "I kind of had a bad experience in that area and it's not something I'm comfortable jumping in to."

"Just because you dated Echolls is no reason to give up on the male of the species."

"It wasn't Logan," Veronica said quietly. "It was my first boyfriend, Duncan."

"If he was worse than Echolls than you have questionable taste in men," Bel said. "But Archie was cool and Cam's a good guy."

"Well, Logan never raped me, so..."

Bel blinked at the phone.

"What?"

Having reached his maximum limit of not hearing from Veronica, Cameron caved and called her number.

Smiling when she saw the number on her caller ID, Veronica flipped her phone open. "Are you developing psychic powers?"

"Were you thinking of me?" Cameron grinned, barely keeping himself from asking if it was dirty in any way.

"I just talked to Bel a little while ago to make transportation arrangements for next week," she replied.

"Ah. So you haven't changed your mind yet?"

"Actually, Bel asked me to go with him. Sorry. Maybe you could ask Phoebe?"

There was pause. "You realise you nearly gave me a heartattack, right?"

Veronica laughed. "Sorry, I couldn't resist. No, I haven't changed my mind. I still want to go with you."

"Good," he smiled. "Is there anything I should keep in mind? Any colour coding that I might accidently screw up if I go in orange?"

There was a pause before she replied. "My dress is sort of mocha colored," she said, really, really, really hoping he was kidding about going in orange.

"Mocha and orange go good together, right?" he double-checked. He was sort of wishing they had a camera phone.
