Phone call to Callisto

Angel was in his room at the Hyperion.

He really, really wished some sort of demon would burst through the door and demand that he fight him.

When the universe failed to produce that sort of welcome distraction, he hit the speed dial number for Callisto instead.

"Well, yes, that would make nightmares a bad choice of words," Callisto said.

"Good to know my instincts were right there," Angel said. "You know me and words."

"I never noticed," Callisto deadpanned. "So just these dreams was enough to make you think you were killing again?"

"There were dead bodies too," Angel said. "Killed just in the way I dreamt about."

"Okay..." Callisto said. "I'm gonna assume that you do have some proof you didn't do it and I'm not going to have to go get my stake out."

"I got chained up, deaths still happened. It's not me," Angel said.

"That's good, at least in the non staking sense," Callisto said. "But don't you think it's a bit odd?"

"We're looking into it," Angel said. "Angela and Marty are here. They're helping out."

"Good that you have help," Callisto said. "Plus that cricket bat might come in handy."

"Him and Logan promised to stake me if it's needed," Angel said. "I trust them."

"You don't think that'll be necessary though, right?"

"Hoping to catch whoever's doing this first," Angel said.

"That whole hero gig, huh?"

"You know how it is," Angel said. "Speaking of, I should probably get back to it. You okay?"

"I don't know," Callisto admitted.

"Not okay because of me, or not okay because of the other stuff?" Angel asked.

"The other stuff," Callisto replied. "You haven't been a big enough idiot lately for me to not okay because of you, at least, not that I know of."

"Thanks, I think," Angel said. "Anything you feel up for talking about?"

"Talking about my feelings is what caused the problem to begin with," Callisto pointed out.

Angel couldn't deny that. "Well, if there's anything I can do, lemme know."

"I will." Maybe. Since she had sincere doubts him ditching the houseboy was going to happen. "Thanks, for not freaking out or anything."

"I wouldn't," Angel said. Mostly because he'd gotten all that out of the way in the time between her leaving the message and now. "No matter what, I still like you and I'm glad for the time we had together."

"I do too. Still like you that is. That's not changed, despite the other stuff," Callisto might have started edging twoards the nervous babbling side of things. "So we're still good?"
